We are planning our first ever BIG camping trip with the girls this summer. Actually, we are taking them backpacking for the first time.
During July we will head to Denver to hit up the foothill areas and then some higher elevation areas for two seperate backpacking trips; a two day trip and then a three day trip.
We are super excited for this because Uncle Craig, Aunt Lori, Uncle Carl and cousin Chester will all be joining us! Family, hiking, camping and the great outdoors what could be better.
But today while I was just starting to look at our gear and what we might need to pick up for the trip I realized that besides the books I have been reading it would be great to read up on what other bloggers have done with their little ones. I would really appreciate any advice, tips, tricks, games, supply must-haves, things to not bring, etc. about camping and backpacking with little kids.
SO please link up any backpacking or camping related posts that you have to share! Or leave your advice in the comments section!
Thanks everyone.
If you are looking for backpacking ideas I just found this blog "No I won't carry that rock" http://atlashaditeasy.com/ and it is very entertaining as well as candid about backpacking with young kids. Her children are 3 and 8 and they live in Colorado. Their adventures are wild but there is a lot to learn about gear and ideas for limits of kids abilities and many other things.
It has inspired me to try a backpacking trip with our boys this summer...we will see.
Hope this helps. Can't wait to hear about your trips. Enjoy!

I left you a few links and I added the bear information since there are black bears in the Rockies of Colorado.
Hope you have a great time and look forward to hearing about it.

thanks for the promo Carrie! this is a great site too. I don't pull any punches about our adventures and will probably offend those who want it all to be Happy and full of the Sound of Music Soundtrack. :) We have a great time and go quite crazy a lot of the time but it keeps life interesting. Good luck to everyone getting out there - our kids will all be better for it. I think. :)

I just did a whole series on camping and one of them was on backcountry adventures. We have a three year old and have been going with him since he was 1.
