As we head into cooler weather it will get easier and easier to just avoid going outside. The kids won't want to as much and it will take considerably more effort to get outside once we introduce hats, gloves, boots, etc. BUT making sure that we get outside time is critical to keeping us all sane.
One thing that is super simple outdoor fun, great exercise and allows the little ones to get creative is setting up obstable courses.
We kept our's super simple with some landscaping ties, stumps, big tree cookies and a slide. But the girls helped decide what we would use and do with all of it.
There was running and jumping over sections of board, sliding down the slide, balancing on the landscape tie, and using the tree cookies and stumps as stepping stones. They ran the course over and over again, then would switch up the order and run it again.
The fun part is watching them get creative with how to use random things around the yard. Older kids would really have fun with this part!

The Nitty Gritty!
Getting creative with your kids and trying to use outside toys and tools in ways they haven't thought of before can be a lot of fun and a great learning experience for everyone. Start them off with explaining the idea, showing them some stuff that they could use and then let them go from there.
This activity could be done at schools as well! You just never know what those kids can find around a playground to incorporate into an obstacle course.
love this idea!! :)

Abbie, your girls get cuter every time I see a picture of them! I can't believe what a 'big girl' Avery is these days! It seems like just yesterday our little ones were snuggly babies on our shoulders!
Great outdoor obstacle course. I'm so excited to have our own garden (hopefully soon!) so we can do these sorts of activities too!
