Polly came home from vacation today and the girls were very excited to see her. She needed a bath, which is to be expected after running in the woods and getting tons of outdoor time at our aunt and uncles house, so we decided to take her swimming today before the bath.

 
 
 
 
The girls had a great time and it was so fun to see Polly swimming. Sam and I talked a lot about how Polly's legs moved to make her swim and why she shook off when she got out of the water.

It is nice to be pet owners again!

The Nitty Gritty!

I have never put much thought into how green our dog is. I have always kind of thought dog food is dog food, she doesn't really care and her toys don't really matter. But while I was at the Energy Fair I saw a booth called "Honest Pet Products". I stood for a long time reading their information and checking out their pet toys. It was incredible stuff! And finally the thought occurred to me that if I am not okay with horrible chemicals being pumped into my kids why would I treat my dog any differently. And if I like to know the environmental cost of my kids toys why am I not concerned about the same costs with my dog's toys?

So, we will be making some changes around here when it comes to Polly. It will happen slowly because those giant bags of dog food last us a long time, but once it is time to buy food or buy new toys I will be more conscious of the choices I am making for our dog and how green they are. One company I am very interested to find out if I can buy locally is Natura Pet. I haven't paid much attention as to what is available at my local grocery store or what the local pet store has but next time I will be sure to check it out.

Dogs are a man’s best friend and will be with their master until the very end, whether it be good or bad. Whatever the situation, a man’s dog will never depart the side of his master.
