This is the new obsession at our house! Have you read Denise Fleming before? We have seen one or two of hers before but this one is so fun with the two girls right now! Avery is showing more and more interest in animal sounds and trying so hard to mimic the noises that we are making so this one is perfect. The girls love reading it together. I will saw the first line "cows in the pasture" and then Sam will say the second part (which is always the sound the animal makes) "moo moo moo", then Avery tries and then they both laugh hysterically. They are cracking us up this weekend! So much fun.
This is another one we have gotten and enjoyed. There is just something about the bright, colorful pictures and the simple writing that is just perfect for a one year old and a three year old.
We got this one this week too and the content in this book speaks to my heart. When you see those vast seas of houses, row upon row of houses (much like the area that we currently live in), I often wonder what was there before the houses. I think the message is a bit over Sam's head but the pictures are great and we talk all about the animals and things that the girls are seeing. With kids slightly older this would be a really good one.
I am also curious to find these other titles at our library...
So, if you haven't checked out this author I would ABSOLUTELY suggest looking her up the next time you are at the library! And if you have read any of those last three books, let me know what you think!

The Nitty Gritty!
I didn't get to it today (with church and a 2:00 birthday party we had a pretty busy day!) but I think the Barnyard Bantar would be a great book to pair with simple puppets like we have made for other books. It would be easy enough to find the pictures that you needed for the puppets online somewhere. OR if you have a good set of animal figurines you could act out this book with those animals as well.
I am going to suggest these books to Sam's preschool teacher too because I think they would be great read to a group in the classroom!
I know you all thought I forgot....I owe you a winner!

Huge coincidence. We just checked out Banyard Banter from the library on Saturday (and it was a repeat because my son liked it the 1st time we got it). I'm not familiar with her other books, but the subjects look great, and we'll have to check them out.
