Day 282: fill those stressful moments with learning

We all have those moments. In the doctor's office, waiting in a waiting room, waiting in a long line or sitting at a restuarant waiting for food that never seems to be coming. Those are the moments where if you don't have a way to distract your toddler the chaos, craziness and stress for mom can quickly spiral out of control.

Why not fill those moments with learning about nature and living sustainably?

The Let's Go Chipper app is a great way to fill those moments. Sam played around with it a bit today and really liked several features.

The new animal memory/matching game is HUGE hit! We play memory games at home all the time so it was a great fit for her. And the animal pictures are pretty cute.

She also really liked the video that the app has. I didn't sit and watch the whole thing with her (I think it was about 30 minutes) but she stayed captivated (as much as a three year old can!) for the whole thing. And told me afterward it was really fun.

Sam and I together sat down and looked at several of the ebooks. They were very fun. The images are still images but then turn like pages which Sam thought was pretty neat. And the stories are really educational. Love that!

We are not a video game or computer game kind of family. The girls have limited TV time and right now no computer time at all. But Sam has started to show more of an interest in her dad's Ipod and it is great to have this app as something that is not just a game but also a learning tool as well.

I was impressed to see how well all these features really held Sam's attention at only 3 years old! But at the same time I think the concepts and content are also age appropriate for kids much older.
