Sam went back to school today after a week off for spring break. She was very excited about going back to school and even more excited to tell me all about what they did at school when she got home.
I learned that they had a guinea pig in the classroom today and an animal doctor came to visit. Her friend, Madiosn, got to put a band-aid on her leg but there was no boo-boo, it was just practice.
And they are also learning all about birds! Sam had to tell me where birds live, what they make their nests out of and what they eat. So since she was so excited about birds today I incorporated that into our outdoor play.
I was able to grab a few photos from today...
Sam "hunting" for birds nests and collecting good things that birds would use to build their nests.
And Avery in her new favorite place in the world. As soon as her feet touch grass she runs for the swing and stands there whining until I pick her up and get her swinging! No bird lessons for her today.
But then we saw this coming and the camera had to go back inside!
The bird studying continued tonight on our family walk where we told Sam she needed to keep her eyes out for birds and bird nests. We found quite a few birds and a couple of nests!
It was really fun being able to continue, and expand on, the fun/learning that she was doing at school.

The Nitty Gritty!
Tonight's Nitty Gritty is not going to have anything to do with the post! Sorry for the disconnect...I meant to jump on and blog about this earlier today but it slipped my mind until now, so I am plugging it all in down here!
I wanted to share some fun places where you all can continue to learn, share and network with other like-minded folks.
The Children and Nature Network is a great place to jump into lots of conversations, find out about events happening all over the country and learn about all kinds of new resources. And if you want to really join the conversation you need to join the C&NN Connect where you can find out all about their current promotions, events and active groups.
The Outdoor Baby Network is another place that I frequent for ideas and inspiration. Some of the families that I have met on here are AMAZING with what they are doing with their kids. And for all you local folks there is a WI group you can join!
And a new network that I have just discovered is The Education Network created by An Amazing Child. I have just joined this network and am still joining groups and getting to know the site but so far I have already gotten some great new sites to check out, some new ideas and great resources. And I started an outdoor play group!
So there you have it! Just some of the places that I can be found throughout the day. Hope you will stop by and say hi!
Where do you frequent to network and get inspired?
love the pictures and we need to do a bird theme here.
Off to check out the education link I'm a member of C&NN and Outdoor baby

Hi-I just stumbled upon your blog. It's beautiful. I noticed you are in Wisconsin? Where are you? I spent my childhood in Madison. Looking forward to getting to "know" you. Lori
