So it is the perfect day to be working on garden projects.
Yes, Sam is wearing a Santa hat and eating snow.
I know Avery, I can't believe it is snowing either!
But garden projects needed to get done so we did them anyway.
Painting rocks that will eventually be the plant markers in the garden.
Sorry the picture is so awful, the lighting in our basement is very yellow! Sam did a great job with the painting. Now I just need to let them dry and write the veggies on there.
We checked on, watered and counted our sprouts. These are sunflowers and zinnias for the garden that I decided to start indoors.
And a couple of tomato sprouts.
But do you notice what else is growing on our pellets? Some kind of white fungus stuff! Gardeners any suggestions or advice? Should I be concerned? I am guessing it has something to do with introducing the toothpicks (rats!). But we have four sprouts so that is good.
We planted more green peppers today.
Row is still working on "growing".
And then I set up a light because I noticed that the soil of some of the plants was pretty cool to the touch.
So, yes we gardened in the snow today! Sam was so mad that it was snowing and Avery stood by the door begging to go outside all day. Both were annoying and at the same time adorable.

The Nitty Gritty!
April is a BIG month in the environmental education and green world. Why, you ask? EARTH DAY! Duh!

Let's Go Chipper Summer Tour - April - June 2011
Join Chipper during our Into the Great Outdoors Tour 2011 a virtual path to the great outdoors connecting community leaders, park rangers, teachers, parents and friends. Additionally, the Chipper Team will lead events in local communities, state, and national parks, and retail locations to help families gear up and get ready for explorations in nature. It's all about getting connected and being together with family and friends.
Little old ME is one of the Chipper Ambassadors and will be talking more about the Chipper stories, online resources and activities that parents, educators and children can use to learn more about nature when they can't actually get outside! Stay tuned....

What a great way to make the most of an icky (spring) day. I love the rock markers, by the way. I should have my kiddos try that.
Looking forward to being co-Chipper Ambassadors together - this month is gonna get busy!

You are such an inspiration to finally do some gardening this year. Every year I say i am going to plant some veggies but never do. I think it will save money and the kids will really enjoy it!
