You know I love the scavenger hunt! And winter/cold temperatures certainly don't change that.
While Avery was sleeping today Sam and I headed out. What I have figured out with Sam is that I have to keep her distracted and having fun when it is this cold. It's not like the summer where she can just be outside and enjoy herself, she needs to be engaged in something.
So when we headed out I instantly showed her this,
and then told her I wanted to see if we could find more icicles around the house and yard.
No this isn't an earth shattering kind of idea but it made it possible for us to have some enjoyable outside time today. We tromped through the snow, fought the wind and cold temperature and had a good time hunting for icicles.

The Nitty Gritty!
Holiday times are upon us! For us that means traveling. We will see both sides of the family but it will take an eight hour car ride to see one side and a whole day of plane travel to see the other. We are super excited about both parts of the trip but I know that my computer time will be limited for the next few weeks.
With that being said I am still commited to this project. I am still committed to doing one thing with my girls (and maybe nieces and nephew!) everyday. But those things might start to be really simple teaching moments. I probably won't have time for elaborate crafts, book and activity cobinations or big adventures. I will go back to just trying to capture one little moment with my girls everyday that teaches them something about nature. But to get even that one little moment in while we are all so distracted by the craziness of the Holidays will be a miracle!
have a wonderful holiday and safe travels!
I'm with Sam sometimes it is so cold and bitter out there I need something to distract me too :)

I wish I didn't hate the cold so much...it'd be easier to get out there and enjoy the icicles!

Kinda jealous that you've got icicles! Fun idea to jazz up the usual walk around the neighborhood (or backyard). Happy holidays!

What fun! We had a six foot icicle hanging down from our house a few weeks ago!
