Still haven't finished your shopping yet? Well, what are you waiting for?! Christmas is just around the corner, better get busy. HA!
Anyway, just wanted to share a few more of the things that I am excited for Sam, Avery and the cousins to open on Christmas morning. The first set of pictures come from an AMAZING Etsy seller named BusyBeingMe (unfortunately she got too busy AND since her husband got a new job they are moving RIGHT NOW, so her store is closed. bummer). This is a must see when she gets her store back up and running after the holidays.
Awesome pretend play mailbox.
This might be one of my favorite gifts that I give this year. The little wood "jar" of heart shaped cookies I just know is going to be an instant favorite kitchen accessory at this house. All of these wooden accessories are the best quality and just so cute.
And check out these great wooden beads for Avery! No Avery is not a genius and ready to string beads already BUT I thought Sam and I could do the stringing and make some good chew/rattle toys for Avery to play with! Then they can be taken apart and the beads used again when Avery IS ready for stringing beads.
So be sure to check out the BusyBeingMe shop and get an email notification when she is back up and running.
We are also having a book Christmas.
Just a few of the titles my girls will be getting include
Find My Friends, by Carl R. Sams A great board book for Avery.
Winter Friends, by Carl R. Sams; Another great board book for Avery. Do you think I have a thing for this guy or something? HA! And no he is not my husband and I am not on payroll with this publishing house!!! Although if they wanted me to do a review or something I would certainly NOT object!
Birds, by Kevin Henkes So excited to read this book with Sam. Describes and shows pictures of a lot of birds that we see around this area and I think she will learn her birds and enjoy the book at the same time.
And if you haven't seen the handmade things I have done for Sam and Avery this year you can go here and here!
Okay, happy Saturday! I need some outside time today with my girls so that is all for now.

The Nitty Girtty!
I would love to hear what you are getting your kiddos for Christmas. I would also really love to know how parents balance satisfying what their kids ask for from Santa and what you as mom/dad think that they should have/need. I am just imagining in future years my daughter asking for the latest plastic, light-up, single function gadget that I know she will only play with for a few minutes and then never touch again. Knowing that she won't really enjoy it for very long do I ignore her request and get her toys that I think will keep her more entertained and stimulated OR in the spirit of the hoiday and the tradition of Santa do I buy her what she wants (within reason!) and then also get her the other items?
Sam had her first Santa request this year and it has already caused drama in this house! You can read about how I have to save some of her Christmas presents till her birthday and how I caved to get her what she really wanted here.
we do a simple christmas
Something they want (santa)
Something they need (us)
Something they wear (us)
Something they read (us)
plus stockings (target dollar spot)
then they got simple st nicholas day gifts. (no more then 5 bucks)

Its easy until they feel the full power of peer pressure. They don't watch TV with adverts if I can help it.
They know the sort of things that fit our family policy. They know Father Christmas is unlikely to deliver anything that parents wouldn't want their children to have. (Explains why their friends get something and they don't or vice versa).
Sounds tough to say no, but it is one of life's lesson. So far, disappointment is soon forgotten. I'd far rather buy them something that they are still playing with next Autumn and be unpopular for five minutes at Christmas.

This is a tough one. My hubs already knows he is going to miss next Christmas, and he missed the 1st Christmas. So this year, even though Squish is way to young to remember, he wanted to do more than we normally would. I gave in, bc well who wouldn't.
I think as our son gets older, and hopefully we add to our family, it will be more a discussion, but for now...

These are great ideas. It's so weird, but this year my boys haven't really asked for much which totally has me scratching my head on what to get them! Yikes! And I have to shop today!! Looks like lots of books, movies, and art supplies! Great post!
