Do you ever have those times in life where you just lose motivation? Whether it's with work or family your bubble just seems to have burst? My bubble had blown a big fat hole in it this week. I don't know if it was five days with no husband, sick kids, a teething baby or a super slow and frustrating blog or if it was all of it combined but the hole seemed so large I thought the bubble might be gone for good.
Then my husband came home and handed me "The Green Hour" a book by Todd Christopher. He also watched the kids so I could go and teach a girl scout over night all about trees in the most amazing setting I have seen in a long time. Before the girl scouts arrived I had about an hour to myself. A fire was going in the huge field stone fireplace, I had hot chocolate, peace and quiet and a new book from my husband.
I only read 39 pages but in that moment with all the frustration I had been feeling those 39 pages were glorious. Not only was the time to myself much needed but the words resonanted with me as if they were written just for me.
"Don't blink. So my wife and I will sometimes whisper to each other when we sense the impermanence of that occasional perfect moment with our children. It's a sentiment that the Baha'i writer George Townshend expressed most poignantly when he wrote these lines: 'Childhood is but for a day. Ere you are aware it will be gone with all its gifts forever.' The meaning is clear. Take the time to be in, and to savor, those moments with your children, and the joy of those gifts will never fade." page 12
So true. And this is what I needed to hear. It isn't about how fast my blog runs, how many comments I get or even if anyone out there is reading this. I started this project because I wanted (I knew I NEEDED) to share my passion for the outdoors with my daughters. I want them to love what I love more than anything. This blog is just my outlet to share those moments and what I learn from them with other moms. But ultimately it is just about my girls.
I got my motivation back. Even with cooler temperatures on their way we will be spending even MORE time outside. Going for more walks, looking at more bugs and exploring even more.
I know this book has more to offer and I can't wait to see what activities and ideas I can get from this author, but if I didn't read another word I would still recommend this book to every parent that I know!

But because I do love this blogging world I have to let you know what else is going on!
Did you see my guest post at Family and Life in Las Vegas? If you need some tips on how to go hiking with little ones head over there and check it out! Might be some good motivation to get outside and enter the November Monthly Challenge .
AND I am guest blogging over at Mandyland today as well! This one is a craft that I have never blogged about before but made a while back for Sam. Super cute Christmas present idea that is also very cheap!!
Since the blog now seems to be back up and running we will be doing a review for CircaToys tomorrow! You have no idea how excited I am to show these toys to the girls and to you all. THEY ARE AMAZING! AND two of them will be given away to some of my amazing readers.
Thank you for the great comments the last few days and sticking by me through the awful slowness.
