We window watch all the time. Which basically just means we sit on the couch, floor, bed or anywhere else where we can see out a window and look out. We talk about the plants and animals that we see, what they might be doing and make up stories about their lives. I think it is a great imagination exercise for Sam. And a great thing to do on a rainy day, like today.
But I wanted to up the challenge and length of time that Sam would stay entertained with it today. So, I made up a window bingo card for Sam. I just used silly clipart images and a chart in Microsoft Word to create the card. Then Sam sat at the window and when she saw something on the card she got to put a sticker on it. Because out wildlife and plant life is somewhat limited I did include some man made items that I knew she could see from certain windows.
It worked out well today to fill about 30 minutes with daddy while I worked on dinner.

The Nitty Gritty!
If you want to use the card that we used, or just see it you can click on the link below to download it.
I think if Sam asks to do this again and it goes well I might get it laminated so that we could just use markers or something else and use the same card over and over. But having the template makes it super easy to just change the images depending on the season, where we are or what she might see.
This could also be fun to use in the car (I think Melisa and Doug actually sell and wooden version of this!) or on a walk. Super versatile! Love that.
I really like this. My kids love looking out the windows.
