Remember the early morning walk? Tonight we did the same concept but waited till the sun was just about set.
Yes Sam is wearing her jammies with a coat and hat!
We stopped to look at things. We talked a lot about the things that we could hear but not see; barking dogs, crickets, geese, chirping birds, planes, etc. We looked at the colors in the sky. Sam looked and looked for the sun but couldn't find it and couldn't find the moon either. We did see one star which was very exciting for her.
Not as much natural activity on the evening walk as there was on our early morning walk but I think Sam still loved being able to be outside exploring a different time of day.

The Nitty Gritty!
I am anxious for it to start getting darker, not in general but for the purpose of being able to sit outside in the dark and show Sam the stars. I love looking at the stars and can't wait to share that with Sam.
Have you watched the stars with your child lately? Do you go for evening walks?
A night time walk is such a good idea. We take so much for granted as grown-ups and forget that children have so much to learn about the world. My three year old was fascinated by street lights over the weekend. I suddenly realised that we hadn't driven in the dark, in a built up area, together since earlier in the year and that was about quarter of his life ago.
Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog. I appreciate your words.
PS Love Sam's hat!

It looks like a nice quiet walk. Why not?
Although, I find it's disturbing when I do a late night grocery store run ALONE and see some parents dragging their little kids to a WalMart after 11pm. It's crazy!
But it's lovely to do it in a sensible kind of way ;)
