I am exhausted; physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted. Watching your family say good bye to their wife/mother/sister/daughter/aunt/niece...really takes its toll. And doing that while also taking care of two very tired little ones that have no idea why everyone else is crying all the time is also tough. The visitation, service, luncheon and burial were all beautiful but a lot to handle with the girls in tow.
Needless to say today I just didn't have the energy (or the time for that matter) to work much into our day in the way of greening. I am not proud to say that today I came very close to feeling like a failure on this project. But I have decided to cut myself some slack, so I hope you will too.
The things that I am going to count as our greening moments for the day are;
1. Sam and I looked at and smelled lots of flowers.
2. Sam and I walked barefoot in the grass.
3. We all watched the amazing and HUGE moon as we were driving home tonight. Sam kept telling us that it was "catching up"!
But that is it.
Tomorrow will be better and I am hoping this week to really come up with some good stuff. PLUS I have two entries to my August Monthly Challenge that I cannot wait to tell you about. So be on the look out for those too.

The Nitty Gritty!
I got nothin.
The moon has been amazing the last 2 nights. With it getting dark earlier and the cool nights we can't help but cherish these last weeks of summer. Adrian is a bit obsessed with drawing and coloring moons, bananas are moons, etc... Tonight before bed he had to go out and see it one last time. He said, "happy moon! nigh, nigh". How cute!

You FAR from being a failure in this project today. Your blog has taught me (whether you have meant to or not) that being green doesn't have to be a grand gesture everyday, it can be as little as stopping to appreciate the environment you are in, to enjoy and cherish the things God has put here for us. Walking barefoot in the grass, looking at flowers and watching the moon with your daughters are exactly what this blog (and you) needed today! You are amazing girl! Big hugs to you, the girls and Chris!

Abbie, Charlie and I look at "Mr. Moon" every chance we get. He is learning the phases of the moon and the different shapes. He is best at pointing out a crescent moon. I think you are doing an excellent job in the "greening" of your girls. It's that love of nature and the environment that makes people want to nurture their world. What better way to learn that than from interacting with nature!

Are you kidding? There is no way you are a failure! I think what you did was the perfect way to be "green". The projects are always lovely and interesting, but sitting back taking in and interacting with the natural world is perfect! Peace, Angela

Failure you're not. Going green doesn't mean saving the world, it just means doing our part no matter how big or small.
In reponse to your comment on my blog, believe it or not, I use several tactics:
a. we use water in a spray bottle, its our bad dream be gone spray, we spray it when she has a bad dream around room and they go away.
b. she has a good dream care bear that she hugs when she is scared. it gives her good dreams.
c. we hung glow in the dark stars and planets so she knows that god is always watching her and protecting her from her bad dreams. its hard for her to comprehend god and what he is so we found that using those has really helped identifying him with some tangible.
And sometimes, we stay in her room for 5 mins and she knows that after 5 mins is up we are leaving whether she wants us to or not.
